i like this article;
its annoying how people keep saying "its not as catchy as gee" becayse its sort of obvious and the song is good even without the hooks and it shows that snsd's songs are popular not only becauseits got hooks and has a repititive "gee gee gee gee" thing;

Not as catchy as Gee but still a very memorable song. Especially the chorus "tell me your wish" and "genie for your dreams." Probably harder to sing than repeating Gee three times but nonetheless a very catchy and rhythmic song.

stage costume haha xD
yeah the matured concept is better, i think especially if snsd wants to reach outside of korea =)
tell me your wish would definitely do better than gee if introduced to america ><
thanks for the translations!

It's hard to put our love for the 9 in words, but Auratus does the best job of it. Forever 9.

There is no doubt that Genie is refreshing in many ways, and while we could argue about the diferences in each song, we could also argue that both of them brought something fresh to the table! It's not easy to always try and shape new music, It's always simpler to play it safe and go with the already sucessfull types. But the girls never do that, in each of their comebacks they had the guts to shape new ways of music knowing they could be huge sucesses as well as fall on their sweet behinds ;)

It takes a lot of guts to do so, and It's something to be respected. So let's just enjoy every new trend without even caring for the latter, as they will always have their differences, but in a paradoxian way, that's what will make them always simmilar

still, since you mention it I have to admit that even though the crab-walking was awesome the new 'shuttle-kicking dance' made me :mouthdrop: !
It's really cool :hehe:

and there's one thing I totally agree at, Genie has to be seen AND heard to be fully enjoyed to its maxim capacities ^___^

I kinda agree that it might not be as catchy as 'Gee gee gee gee baby baby baby' , but for me, "sowoneul malhaebwa" is just as awesome and catchy!

I personally prefer Tell Me You Wish over Gee, the MV is so much more...matured and sexier for me; and the beat and dance is more of my thing :)

Thanks for posting! I enjoyed reading this article, and I'm completely confident that tell me your wish is going to dominate this summer. It'll be great to look back on summertime later in the year and have the representative song in my mind be tell me your wish hahah.

Thanks for translating this! :D
They are always comparing Gee and Tell me your wish. Aren't they tired of it?-__-
Tell me your wish is less addicting? I don't think so!
The first time after i heard the song the sentence "Tell me your wish" kept on floating on my mind! Hehe!
Gee is a very addictive song but i think Tell me your wish is also a good song too!
I just hope they won't keep on repeating the sentence"it's not addictive like gee".
Soshi's gonna create another record with Tell me your wish!!! :D :D :D

Soshi jjang! :p :p :p

The one and only pair that i ship is 탱싴!!:D
I♥변탱싴!! 변탱싴 JJANG!!

i agree that u must watch the MV together with the song or picture it in your head whilst listening to it. that would definitely be the best.
kinda tired of also hearing people comparing how it wasnt as good as Gee althought its just their opinion.
anyway, snsd all the way!!!~ <3

At first, I was extremely disappointed with Genie... but then I watched the music video. And thus resulting in me falling in love with Genie.

Although it may not be "Gee," it has its own perks and it still captures the hearts of many, MANY fans... and possibly converting some antis.

Also, what font did they use for Genie? It's beautiful. I still can't get the Gee font... I have to pay for it. Gah.

I see that they already have a name for the dance now
And I have to agree that if you watch the MV you'll
understand that the dance totally fit with the song.

Ooh. This is a good article.
The girls did make a big transformation, but nevertheless, people will love them.
Both aspects of SNSD in terms of music, choreography, and costumes are lovable.
No matter what, they will be always on the top.
So I believe their intense popularity will continue with the Genie storm.
SNSD hwaiting. And thanks for the translations.

I think this article is right - the repetitive gee and baby is very addictive IMO. I really like the choreography for Genie though, I like the leg movements. =D And the costumes for Genie is definitely better than Gee's.

yes, i agree, it's much better if you watch the choreography as you listen to the music (maybe to make you watch their performances?)
sure, the dance seemed too simple and easy at first, but try doing it yourself, and its not the same
it's just that SNSD makes it flow smoothly and nice
and the music itself is pretty catchy if you listen to it a few times and i like the beat too

overall, i give SNSD 2 thumbs up!!! (and will continue to do so....)

"We're Nothing Without ALL 9"

Somewhere in SM Town
were 9 enchanting genies.
No one could resist this cute dorky clown
of a group as laughter made one fall to the knees.
Sweet and cuddly, 9 girls would turn any frown
into a smile with G(l)ee.
Dance, sing, act - these girls got their talents down;
watch as SNSD conquers the seas.

I agree with almost the ideas about the differences between Genie and Gee.
Despite the lack of addicted point in Genie comparing to Gee, Genie is now top many online and offline music chart and has many copies have been sale.
Congrats to Taeyeon, Sica, Sunny, Hyoyeon, Fany, and Yuri for being 21 years old :) From now on, they can do whatever they want as an adult.

As a Taeganger, I promise to despise all aegyo,
to remain secretive with my butt fetishes,
to laugh whenever and however I want,
to do everything I can to help Taeyeon in her quest to conquer the world,
and to wear a mustache to make my Taeyeon proud!

Whatever the difference is, we would all still like SNSD and their songs no matter what.
the 2 songs are of a different genre, and it depends on one to say if they like it or not.
personally... i feel that gee's better than tell me your wish.. that's currently.. might change due to time..
well... (:

GOGO SNSD ! GEE ! TELL ME YOUR WISH !

i think what really makes the songs marketable is the girls. i think their music is very catchy. i like how this song is electronic/dance style which is somewhat listened more often during the summer months.
