According to Gaon charts, Girls’ Generation’s “The Boys” album is the best selling single album of 2011 with 385,348 sold. Fellow label-mates Super Junior with “Mr. Simple” and TVXQ with “Keep Your Head Down” joined Girls’ Generation at the top of the chart in second and third place with 343,348 and 266,727 sales respectively, showing how popular SM artists are.
Solidifying their comeback with this success, despite a late comeback in October of last year, Girls’ Generation continues to prove their dominance in the K-Pop community. Their popularity has undoubtedly grown in 2011 with “The Boys” album selling more than their previous albums “Oh” and “Hoot” combined, which came in second and third in total sales in 2010.

Then i choose to believe the girls didnt show up because they wanted to let others win cuz they gonna win no doubt with this album sales.
Anyways album sales is the most important thing not winning awards, this is really most daebak news.
If its true that SNSD will attend at GDA part 2, then they will surely get awards…did you noticed that all attendees at the 1st part won awards… :) that’s why attendees of the 1st part of gda wont attend the 2nd part of gda…. :))

So I don’t understand why SNSD didn’t win any awards on the first day, the most IMPORTANT day of the GDAs. SUJU snagged 4 awards, dbsk should’ve gotten something but didn’t, so that I don’t understand either. What’s even more intereresting is that f(x) even got a Bonsang and SNSD didn’t. I believed the GDAs were fair amongst ANY other awards ceremony but I guess not…
There is a “no attendance, no award” policy and Soshi didn’t attend yesterday so it’s “normal” that they didn’t win anything, ^^.

Yes, as someone mentioned why didn’t they win any Deasang awards?? Isn’t that the Korean version of the Grammy’s? I’m so confused.
Also, are their promotions done for this album? What about some of the other songs – Oscar, Trick – ? No more hits off the album???
GDA rule is “no show no win” so that’s one reason for SNSD not getting a Disk Bonsang and also because SM didn’t release a Repackage for their Korean promotion, instead SM release Repackage for their Japan album. No there won’t be anymore songs off their album to promote, just only The Boys and Mr. Taxi. Now their focus will be on individual activities (Actress Shidae) until further notice. :)
Seriously no other songs will be a hit off this album?? They only had 2 hits – The Boys & Mr. Taxi (and technically Mr. Taxi is not even a new song as it was their Japanese hit this past year).
So many other good songe on this album that they could make another awesome MV & choreography. I really don’t get it – the way Korean artists do their promotions or whatever you call it.
So if a song isn’t promoted does it get any radio play? Or if radio stations in Korea can play their other songs from the album and it’s in demand, they still won’t promote it??
I mean the Girls promoted in Japan Genie, RDR, Mr. Taxi, Bad Girl, The Great Escape (granted no MV but it was performed several times on Japan TV as well as at the Japan MTV show). I’m not counting Gee because that was promoted earlier in the year, but these 5 songs are off their 1st major Japan album. So it doesn’t make sense to me that The Boys album only has 2 hits – ???
Remember sones, the Girls didn’t win anything because they for some reason or other did not attend the ceremony. otherwise they would have dominated X] The same, I believe, goes for Big Bang and other YG groups. At least, that’s what I see. I could be wrong.

I wonder why they didn’t win Daesang in GDA. People are saying that they did not win because they lack in album sales but this news just came BAM to prove them wrong. How ridiculous. It is a little unfortunate that the girls did not win the Daesang this year. But I am happy for them already. They are indeed the best of the best.
