On December 7th, MBC aired the performances for “2014 MBC Korean Music Wave in Beijing”. The members of Girls’ Generation performed “Mr. Mr.” and “Gee”. Tiffany and Yuri also served as MCs for the show.
This year’s “MBC Korean Music Wave” was held in National Stadium, Beijing on October 25th. Girls’ Generation performed alongside other K-Pop artists including 2PM, BEAST, T-ARA, and EXO. Sooyoung was unable to attend because she was busy with her drama, “Springtime of My Life”.
Check out the girls’ performances and MC cuts below. Photos of the event are posted on Soshified’s Photos Section, and the videos of the event can be downloaded here.

Looks like I’m not alone in finding it hard to watch the girls perform without Sica. Not just because I miss her but because when another member covers her part I can’t help but compare the sound to her voice. When they chose which member should sing which part, it was done to make sure that voice had the power, passion, range etc that the part called for. And unfortunately..neither Yuri or Sunny have the range or voice style. Yuri’s range is lower (and I LOVE it) and Sunny’s style is more husky. They sound strained and strange singing for a part that was not meant for their voices. And I hate watching them have to do that AND hate comparing them.
I will be glad when they make the comeback as 8. Then there will be a new song that Sica has not yet had a part to make her own and I think then, it will be a lot easier for me (and maybe also the community) to take that big step towards accepting the new SNSD.
ANYWAY!
Despite everything, they did a great job. They looked a little…tired for Mr. Mr. but maybe it was jet lag or the fact that they had to cover for 2 open spots. Either way – they still went out there and proved that they have what it takes to remain on T.O.P
♥.♥ angels in white suits and red heels.
they’re trying to give Sones heart-attacks.
fantastic job ladies on doing your best covering SooSic’s parts.
love SNSD as always. love how they re-group so quickly etc; i feel proud to be a SONE.
SNSD awesome!!! i love you girls <3
well. my comment wouldn’t be difference that i missed Jessica a lot as snsd.
cant easily get over that she is no longer snsd.
anyway, i like it when yuri yoona hyo get more lines because some members missing. we could hear their voice more.
I’m still not over Jessica leaving.
I’ll never get over that and it’s never going to be the same.
However, one thing I do really love about when there are two members missing is watching how they consummately cover each other’s lines and choreography and we get to see them being true professionals.
I find it hard to watch the girls perform without Jessica and the fact that Sooyoung was also missing for this performance make it a pretty tough performance to watch.
I’m happy that SM will be focusing on producing music for individual artists next year I really think that the future of SNSD will be individual activities and sub-units (like TTS). It will be itereresting to see which members get the opportunity to release solo music. I would expect any or all members of TTS (and Jessica) maybe Sunny but I really hope they give Hyoyeon the opportunity release some hip hop. I think Hyoyeon has the most unrealizes potential in the group mostly because her true style is such a departure from SNSD.
it’s nice to get what little performances are left for the end of the year. sm will probably just be focusing on exo to close out the year so this is one of the few performances left between now and an snsd comback.
