Taeyeon is different, however. She seems like a typical, yet cute and attractive, Korean girl one may find around him/her could be found around him/her. In other words, she seems like a girl that has the looks to make her a realistic possibility as a girlfriend, but that doesn't mean she is not pretty. She's not super pretty or the prettiest, but she's as pretty as how much prettiness guys realistically wish for in a girlfriend.

I agree with the point that Taeyeon seems someone attainable though the reality might not agree with this image. Simply put, Taeyeon's look is above average...

What is more important, though, is in her actions. Males clearly like girls' "aegyo" a lot. If there were anything Taeyeon knows how to assert herself in, it would be in aegyo. Guys may feel uncomfortable or may even avoid forced and/or too much aegyo, but Taeyeon's aegyo is a bit dorky and genuine, and on top of that there is the added bonus of her cute looks. Whether Taeyeon is actually genuinely dorky or not is irrelevant. Just from her looks and actions, guys construe an image of her as a "cute girlfriend with a great personality." If there was a girl like Taeyeon around, most guys will definitely be attracted to her image of having great personality and try to "hit on her."

I also agree with the point about Taeyeon's actions. There is certainly some level of ingenuity in it, making her distinct from others. But I beg to differ in the way it is described and elaborated.

To me personally, what makes people like Taeyeon is her character. Aegyo and dorky actions might suit her now, knowing that the fact she's 21. But actions need to change over time whether you like it or not. I don't think the "general community" find it's appropriate to do "girly" aegyo when you reach certain level of age.

Let us look at the fact (as far as my knowledge concerns):

1) She's the leader. (from her image, I think everyone can agree that she's up to the job)
2) She always care for the member. (watch her comment on WGM regarding HyungDon presence at the Thai concert)
3) She always let others go first.
4) She always try to hide her tears.

All of these facts give me the impression that, if Taeyeon is not a idol like now and being a person as normal as a Korean can be, I think she is someone:

1) Bravely take the blame if she done something wrong.
2) If met with an old grandmother wanting to cross the street with some luggage, she will definitely help!
3) Never say "no" if a friend asks for something.
4) Face her problem objectively and persevere any hardship.

And I because of these "impressions" that I have, is the reason why I like her and probably many others share the same view (or probably not! )

I agree with the article. There are indeed some beauties that are just too much.. It creeps a guy out and let him feel unsecured knowing that there are a lot of men chasing her girl. I respect the beauty of Taeyeon and she is indeed cute in her own way.

Well said... TaeYeon is also my favorite member and she is the one who i have the biggest crush on... but to be honest, i personally think that she isn't the prettiest member, but YoonA, most of the time... but yeah, "looks" isn't the only factor that makes an ideal girl but also the overall personality (i'm not saying that YoonA has a bad personality)...
Anyway, i find this article very enlightening and true especially the part wherein guys like girls who are super pretty but not necesarrily dream about dating them... hehehe

Aww.. I'm a girl and I like TaeYeon alot.. But, mostly because of her mature vocals.
That aside, looks-wise, I find her really pretty, approachable and cute and not too seductive (when I compare to those Western artists).
The main 'attractant' looks-wise is of course her 'approachability'..

thanks for the trans!!! This is a truly enlightening piece even tho i may not agree to some of the facts.

I'm a girl and *heck* i find Tae absolutely gorgeous, attractive, beautiful, dorky, cute, innocent-charm...man.... i could go on and on about her.
She's my ultimate fav and those pipes she's got..fabulous. Truly goddess material. i fell in love with her vocals before finding out who she actually is.
I do admit that she's not conventionally beautiful....but her personality makes her stand out. She's got a heart of gold.
And aegyo.....*rofl* she has the most awkward aegyo ever and Tae herself admits that she dislike aegyo.
But i love it whenever i see her "aegyo-ness".

She's mature for her age too. And even tho she doesn't show her caring side (towards her members) whenever a camera is present, she does care alot for them behind the scenes!
Not to mention that she's one tough cookie! To top it all off, she can cook!

actually as a girl, i agree with many of the comments here made by girls. i think the reason why she's my favorite member is because well obviously she's an amazing singer, she's very pretty, she's hilariously dorky and can also be mature at times but also because she isn't too overwhelming. when i see her on programs, i can tell that she's just herself. she doesn't try to change herself. i guess i can say, like everyone else, she's comfortable. a kind of person that i can as a friend. one of those friends that acts like a mom and i think these are her charm. and that's why she is my favorite soshi member (:
